experienced oral history practioners who volunteer their expertise, time and energy. Request a proposal describing qualifications of presenters and a sample workshop contract.

Pre-Conference Workshop

The Michigan Oral History Association (MOHA) will be hosting

a pre-conference workshop, Doing Oral History: A Workshop, on

Friday, November 7, 2008, at Rogers City, Michigan. This

workshop is in conjunction with the 2008 Oral History for

Michiganians Conference and will be lead by the MOHA Workshop

Team. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are available (see

chart below).

1:15-2:00 When Does a Recorded Interview Become Oral History: An

Overview (who, what, why, cost, research, copyright, questions

to ask and equipment to use)

2:00-2:10 Break

2:10-3:00 After We Have Asked the Questions (transcripts, indexing,

summary, deposit, hard copy & web publication, uses)

3:00-3:30

Mock Interview and Critique

3:30-4:00

Solving Problems Often Encountered (recall, known error,

sensitive areas, legal and ethical concerns, the unexpected)

4:00-4:30

Questions and Answers (review and ways to get help)
